On Saturday night, we opened the doors after hours to celebrate the arrival of Spring/Summer 2026, and what an evening it turned out to be.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. Seeing the store full of customers enjoying the new collection, catching up over drinks and discovering styles that had been held especially for the evening was a wonderful way to officially welcome the new season.
For us, these events have always been about more than simply launching a collection. They’re an opportunity to bring together the people who wear our shoes, introduce some of the stories behind them, and share a little of what goes into creating a new season at The House of Shoes.
A Special Guest From JONI
This Season Launch had an extra dimension, with Pepe Delicado, third generation of the family behind Spanish footwear house JONI, joining us for the evening.
Saturday marked the official introduction of JONI to The House of Shoes, and having Pepe here in person gave our customers an opportunity to hear directly from the family behind the brand.
Pepe spoke about JONI and the people behind the shoes, but one of the most memorable moments came when he welcomed The House of Shoes into the “JONI family”.
It was a heartfelt sentiment, and one that resonated particularly strongly given Pepe’s own connection to Tasmania.
Spain, Sydney... and Tasmania
While Spain is home and Sydney is Pepe’s second home, his partner lives here in Tasmania. As he explained on Saturday night, that connection means he now considers Tasmania his third home.
There was something rather fitting about introducing JONI to our customers with that existing connection to our part of the world.
For an independent store like ours, the relationships behind the brands we choose matter. Being able to introduce a new collection alongside someone who can share its story personally made Saturday’s launch particularly special.
Welcoming JONI to The House of Shoes
Of course, Saturday was also the first opportunity to properly explore our new JONI collection.
We’re going to save the full introduction for our next story, when we’ll take you further into JONI, the family behind it and why we chose to bring the collection to The House of Shoes.
For now, we simply wanted to say welcome to JONI, and thank Pepe for helping us introduce the collection in such a personal way.
