Episode 3: Get to know our New Collection

with Dianne Sheehan, Store owner and buyer

Explore our New Collection with the people who know it best, our staff. Find out what we’re wearing and our recommendations for the season.

Dianne is the store owner and buyer at The House of Shoes. You can find her in store Saturdays, as well as periodically throughout the week. Her first purchase from the New Collection was a pair of Hispanitas boots.

What are your top three picks for the season?

One of my favourites this season is the Hispanitas Zurich in black. I first noticed this style at the European Shoe Fair and knew straight away it would be a perfect fit for our collection. A few years ago we had a very similar Hispanitas boot in store that I wore constantly (and still do), so I was confident this would be just as good. It’s stylish, practical and incredibly comfortable to wear all day.

The Chie Mihara Filly in black, white & zebra is simply a show-stopping style. You can wear it understated with black wide-leg pants, or really let it shine with a skirt or dress. It’s one of those pieces that instantly lifts an outfit and makes you feel fabulous the moment you put it on.

My top pick from our long boot collection this season is the Sioux Kuimba in brown. The rich chocolate tone is one of the standout colours this winter, and inside it’s fully lined with a beautifully soft velveteen lining that keeps your feet warm even on the coldest Tasmanian days. A truly cosy winter essential.

What is your favourite accessory?

One accessory I was particularly pleased to include (again) in the collection this season is the ECCO Sail Bag. It’s such a practical everyday piece, roomy enough for work-day essentials like a laptop, drink bottle, wallet and phone, while still looking refined and easy to carry. I especially like the simple leather drawstring closure and the versatility of the adjustable strap, which allows it to be worn cross-body, over the shoulder or neatly under the arm. It’s a thoughtful design that suits everyday life beautifully.

With the colder months approaching, what do you enjoy doing on the cooler days?

When the weather turns cooler, I really enjoy spending time in the kitchen trying new recipes. I’ve just picked up Ottolenghi’s Flavour cookbook and I’m looking forward to working my way through some of the hearty dishes, perfect for cosy winter evenings at home.
